"Reach by *Doomsday-Dawn shows beauty in the unity of pairing the softness of naked skin and the harshness of metal. The barb wire grabs the viewers imagination as much as it grabs the model's skin. A well executed and enticing piece of work."

Description

This is REAL Barbed Wire. The points have not been clipped or dulled. The image has not been tampered with or digitally manipulated. The pokes and scratches, all 100% REAL.

I've always had a fascination with metal and skin, and was drawn to barbed wire like a moth to a flame. Of course it turned out to be far more difficult to work with than first anticipated. Most of the "barbed wire" imagery out there is done with fake, rubber, or plastic movie props, NOT the real thing. My first experiments with REAL barbed wire explained why there really wasn't much out there that looked (and felt) true to the medium. It's sharp, it's dangerous, and it'll bleed you if you look at it wrong. In handling it prior to photo shoots, I was scratched, poked, punctured, bloodied, and almost lost an eye. Nasty stuff.

Fortunately I couldn't have hoped for a better Model. Megan, brave enough to be the first, and with a grace and beauty that was the perfect contrast to something so harsh and cold. Her skin, and willpower, against the metal. It's not often I get to work with someone so unique, intelligent, and beautiful.

Model: Megan
Please visit Megan's gallery for more of her unique imagery.

General Disclaimer: This is REAL barbed wire. It is far more dangerous than it looks. Even with extreme safety precautions, it is very easy to get hurt. Please do NOT try this at home!

One of my favorite subjects to work with as well. Very cool shot!
