I've always had a fascination with metal and skin, and was drawn to barbed wire like a moth to a flame. Of course it turned out to be far more difficult to work with than first anticipated. Most of the "barbed wire" imagery out there is done with fake, rubber, or plastic movie props, NOT the real thing. My first experiments with REAL barbed wire explained why there really wasn't much out there that looked (and felt) true to the medium. It's sharp, it's dangerous, and it'll bleed you if you look at it wrong. In handling it prior to photo shoots, I was scratched, poked, punctured, bloodied, and almost lost an eye. Nasty stuff.

Shibari influences this evolution in the barbed wire odyssy. Rope is replaced by metal. By wire. By barbs. The binding itself now becomes the element of bdsm. Megan pulls this off with grace and beauty, despite the intense nature of this bondage. Look closer, and you will see how painful this pattern of metal can be.
